The Mitchell Agency was founded by William C. Mitchell in Lafayette, Indiana in 1885. Initially the Mitchell Agency encompassed a law practice, insurance agency, retail storage, and abstracting business.
The Beginning
In the late 1920’s, Frank A. Tedford separated the insurance division and it has existed in its present form ever since. Jack R. Bogan Sr. joined the firm in 1935.

Modern Mitchell Agency
The company has remained a family business since its inception and today is directed by Jack R. Bogan Jr. who joined the agency upon graduation from Purdue in 1969.

Our consistent and responsive service can be attributed the exceptional tenure of many of our employees. Several of whom have been with us for over 25 years.

The Mitchell Agency team has taken an active role in the community on various Boards and non-profit organizations. Jack R. Bogan Jr. has received the distinguished Sagamore on the Wabash and Marquis d’ Lafayette honors for his and the Mitchell Agency’s contributions to the community.
